State Boat Elects D.S. Miller President

The board of directors of the State Boat Corporation, a rapidly growing operator of tug/supply, supply and utility vessels for the offshore oil industry has announced the election of Dave S.

Miller as president. Since joining State Boat in 1973, Mr. Miller has held a number of positions with the company, including vice president of finance and manager of international operations. Prior to joining State Boat, Mr. Miller obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in naval architecture and marine engineering, and a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. In addition, Mr. Miller served three years in the U.S. Navy on an oceangoing tug in a variety of capacities, including diving officer, executive officer, first lieutenant and navigator.

State Boat Corporation owns and operates vessels ranging between 110 and 210 feet in length and up to 6,000 hp, supporting offshore oil exploration and production in such areas as the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, Alaska, and Central and South America.

State Boat has grown in excess of 40 percent a year for the past six years and currently operates a fleet of 18 modern vessels, with three additional vessels under construction.

The corporate office of the State Boat Corporation is located at 3701 Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas 77098, while the principal operating office is in Morgan City, La.

Mr. Miller's appointment is the final step in the restructuring of State Boat management to keep abreast of this rapid rate of growth, and to provide for future growth. Robert T. Lober, who was previously president and chairman of the board, remains as chairman.
