Uniflite Inc. Names Hill Vice President

Alva M. (Al) Hill has been appointed vice president-marketing of Uniflite, Inc., according to John L. Thomas, chairman of the board and president of the fireretardant fiberglass yacht manufacturer headquartered at Bellingham, Wash. 98225.

Mr. Hill moves up from director of marketing, a post he held since 1974. He is also president of Uniflite International, Inc., a DISC subsidiary. He joined Uniflite as director of government operations in 1971, and in April 1972 was appointed director of international sales.

Prior to his affiliation with Uniflite, Mr. Hill was radar marketing manager for Emerson Electric Co., St. Louis, Mo., for three years, and before that spent 14 years with ITT Gilfillan, a California electronics firm, becoming vice president-marketing.

He attended the University of Arkansas and Valley Junior College in California, and served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War.

With plants in Bellingham, and Swansboro, N.C., Uniflite is a leading manufacturer of recreational and commercial powerboats 28 to 42 feet, and the largest builder of fiberglass boats for the U.S. Navy. It is the only manufacturer whose boats are all classified and labeled by Underwriters' Laboratories (UL), attesting to the fire retardance and strength of their fiberglass hulls.
