Second Student Unit Inducted By SNAME Southeast Section

The Southeast Section of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers inducted the newly formed Student Section from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla., into SNAME at a recent section meeting.

This is the second official student section to be established in the Southeast Section, the first being at Florida Atlantic University.

Robert Mende, SNAME executive secretary, presented a plaque from national headquarters to the 25 member student group from the institute's Department of Oceanography and Ocean Engineering. The students' banner was presented by the Southeast Section.

Two student technical papers were presented : "Fiberous Composite Yacht Material Testing and Analysis" by Dave Giacomarra, and "Stability Driven Design Requirement for a Fast Combat Support Ship" by Robert DeCort.
