Philadelphia Sections Of SNAME, ASNE Hear Paper On Maritime Industry

The Philadelphia section of the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SNAME) recently met with the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) to hear a paper entitled, "The Maritime Industry at the Crossroads." Capt. Silas O. Nunn, USN (Ret.), vice president—programs of the Shipbuilders Council of America, was the author and presenter of the paper. His presentation is based on his belief that 1989 will be watershed year for the maritime industry and his informed opinion that "decisions made and laws enacted over the next 12 to 15 months will set our course for many years to come." Others in attendance included SNAME vice chairman David F.

McMullen and ASNE chairman Capt. John Dachos, USN (Ret.), and Frank Toski and John Ravold, who organized the evening's events.
