China’s ? eets dispersed in 2016 to ? sh in the world’s economic exclusion zones after a painful, self-imposed ? shing ban that signaled the economic giant’s renewed hunger for wild, shoaling ? sh.

Yet, before the year’s mad oceangoing dash, its ? eet modernized, attracted investors and grew by acquisition. In fact, from Darwin in Australia to Dalian in Northeast China, the aim is the same — conserve species, upgrade the ? eet and grow.
