Tillman Esteve, president of Bourg Dry Dock & Service Co., Inc., has announced two new appointments to the Bourg, La.-based shipyard. Allen A. Sandoz has been named chief engineer and designer. Mr. Sandoz has an extensive background in marine engineering, has held positions with Breit & Garcia, naval architects, Design Associates, Avondale Shipyards, Delta Iron Works, and Quality Equipment Co., prior to joining Bourg Dry Dock & Service Co. He holds an Associate of Science degree in business administration from Perkinson Junior College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mr. Esteve, also announced the appointment of Dr. Joel P. Authement as vice president of the organization. Dr. Authement has held teaching positions at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Georgia State University, and Nicholls State University, where he held the position of head of the Management and Marketing Department.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Nicholls State University, and an M.B.A.
degree from Louisiana State University, and a doctorate from Georgia State University in Atlanta. Dr. Authement has varied consulting experience with NASA, U.S. Navy, U.S. Corps of Engineers, as well as many private industrial firms. He is a member of the board of directors for T. Baker Smith & Sons, a Houma, La.-based engineering firm.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Authement held the position of vice president of finance with LeBeouf Bros. Towing Co., Inc. Both companies are divisions of Gonsoulin Industries, Inc.
The Bourg shipyard, P.O. Box 8, Bourg, La. 70343, is located at the 49 mile board (WHL) of the Intracoastal Canal and is engaged in boat and barge construction and repairs of all types. Mr. Esteve stated: "We are beginning what certainly will be our best year to date. Our new construction activities for 1977 are expected to triple, and our repair service will also be greatly expanded with the installation of our new 3,070-ton drydocks. I'm real fortunate to have Mr.
Sandoz and Dr. Authement on our staff."
