dential basis. 26% of the barges that Marcon has for sale are U.S. ß ag, with the other 74% foreign ß ag.Although there are two to three times as many hopper barges than ß at deck barges in the United States, worldwide there are probably more conventional ß at deck barges and a greater total deadweight carrying ca- pacity than any other type. Flat deck barges carry cargoes on deck such as containers, gravel, construction equipment, multi-million dollar proj- ect cargoes and rolling stock. Most of the barges are single deck, although house, double and even triple deck Ro/Ro barges are in service. Accord- ing to the U.S. Army Corps of En- gineers, as of November 2013, there were 7,296 U.S. ß ag deck barges in the ß eet with 31.9% of the barges of all sizes over 25 years of age.
