McDonough Marine’s M 1242-R Hydraulic Ramp Barge

McDonough Marine Service – “The Barge People” – introduced the M 1242-R, a 120- x 40- x 8-ft. hydraulic ramp barge designed to deliver perfor- mance and versatility for demanding marine and construction operations. Based in McDonough Marine Service’s Hero’s Cut Fleet in Belle Chasse, La., the M 1242-R is equipped with two M25 winches and features a 25- x 29-ft. wide hy- draulic ramp with an approximate 75 short-ton capacity.

Built to support a wide range of marine operations, the M 1242-R provides cus- tomers with the equipment and capabilities needed to ef? ciently move personnel, vehicles, heavy equipment and materials between shore and water. “Whether the job requires reliable access, heavy equipment transportation or a capable work platform, the M 1242-R is ready to get the job done,” said McDonough Marine Service.

C&C Delivers New Walking-Spud Idler Barge

C&C Marine and Repair delivered a new 160-foot idler barge to Orion Ma- rine Construction, Inc. Designed by The Shearer Group, Inc., the unmanned steel barge will support Orion Marine’s dredging operations by connecting with new and existing dredges in the company’s ? eet. The barge features an integrated walking-spud system designed to advance the combined dredge and idler barge unit in increments of approximately 30 feet. The system in- corporates a traveling spud carrier, a ? xed stern spud, dedicated spud tow- ers and electrically driven hoisting winches. A push-pull winch controls the longitudinal movement of the walking-spud carrier, allowing the barge to reposition the connected dredge ef? ciently during operations. Construc- tion of the idler barge was completed in approximately eight months.
