Partners Set Out to Drive

Subsea Digitalization

A ? ve-year partnership agreement between Subsea 7 com- pany i-Tech Services and Leidos will aim to develop and apply digital technologies to drive ef? ciency of operations and competitive advantage in the offshore oil and gas sector.

Through the partnership, the companies say they will be able to increase ef? ciencies in life of ? eld capabilities by providing clients with greater insights into operations through the ? eld lifecycle through digitalization.

The relationship will leverage Leidos’s multi-sector ex- perience in digitalization and enable i-Tech Services to signi? cantly automate manual processes, reduce operating costs and utilize innovative technologies and capabilities to further differentiate i-Tech Services’ offerings, the partners said.

Measuring Microplastics in the Oceans

Together with the Swedish Institute for the Marine Envi- ronment, Concordia Maritime initiated a preliminary study to determine the feasibility of gathering important informa- tion on the volume of micoplastics in the oceans. By install- ing a collection device on a tanker, water samples can be collected while it is under way for subsequent analysis by researchers. The aim is to draw conclusions as to the extent, distribution of microplastics and potential consequences for living organisms.

In addition to the Swedish Institute for the Marine Envi- ronment, the preliminary study, which is ? nanced by Con- cordia Maritime, is being conducted in collaboration with the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at The University of Gothenburg and SMHI (Swedish Me- teorological and Hydrological Institute).
