These specially designed and built 30-ton Shipstainers will permit LASH vessels to load and unload containers at pierside as well as from barges in the roadstead. Unique engineering features include: a rotating trolley for stow-ing containers in both fore-and-aft and athwartships posi-tions; quick-change lifting spreaders for handling both 20' and 40' containers; folding jib girders for clean, com-pact stowage; and an operating capacity at a maximum list of 5° and a maximum trim angle of 3°. Utilizing ship's power, the PACECO Shipstainer operates on DC variable voltage for smooth, positive container spotting.
