IMODCO Single-Point Mooring (SPM) Systems for faster, safer, more economical tanker loading and discharging The Imodco SPM system provides a simple, economical solution to the problem of loading and discharging supertankers and other bulk liquid car-riers which have already outgrown all but a handful of the world's existing port facilities. Securely anchored off-shore, it permits cargo operations to continue under nearly all weather and sea conditions. Floating hoses, which rotate about the SPM terminal with the tanker, connect the ship's cargo mani-folds to the SPM. Other hoses con-nect the underside of the SPM to the submarine pipelines. Among its many advantages, an Imodco SPM offshore tanker "sanc-tuary" permits complete freedom of movement in the approach and depar-ture of supertankers, eliminating ex-tensive maneuvering in congested waterways. It overcomes restrictions imposed by narrow, winding and shal-low channels and reduces or elimi-nates costly harbor development and subsequent continuing maintenance. Imodco designs, constructs and in-stalls SPM terminals capable of han-dling multiple fluid cargoes. This en-ables bulk liquid carriers to perform cargo loading, unloading, bunkering, de-ballasting operations simultaneously.
