Regional Realignment

Announced By APL

A major reorganization in Amer- ican President Lines' regional of- fices to strengthen functional re- sponsibility between the area of- fices and San Francisco headquar- ters has been announced by

Norman Scott, president and chief executive officer of the (big steam- ship company.

Mr. Scott said directors of mar- keting, operations and administra- tion have been appointed for the company's Atlantic, Midwest, Pa- cific and Asian offices. Each re- gional director will be responsible directly to the San Francisco di- vision head—Peter T. Albert, vice president-marketing; Leslie A.

Harlander, vice president-opera- tions ; and Howard F. Lucas, vice president-finance.

Additionally, the director of mar- keting will assume the responsibil- ity of managing director, and will be the senior representative of

APL for the area. "The primary objective of this realignment is to provide clear functional lines of authority which tie field office responsibilities di- rectly to the appropriate officer in

San Francisco headquarters," Mr.

Scott stated. "APL has developed a strong competitive position with its new container-ship capability.

Changes in the regional organiza- tion have 'been ma'de to provide a more responsive and efficient struc- ture for our container service cus- tomers."

Initial reorganization assign- ments are as follows, with other appointments to be announced later.

George O. Perry transfers to

New York from Hong Kong to take over managing director-Atlan- tic region. He succeeds Joseph H.

Winer who has resigned. Van

Smith, superintendent df terminal services-San Francisco, moves to

New York to assume the position of director-operations.

John J. Manseau continues to head the Pacific region as manag- ing director-marketing. Paul K.

Andersen, formerly supervisor in the San Francisco freight depart- ment, takes over as director-admin- istration, and Don Scellato, operat- ing manager-New York, transfers to Los Angeles as director-opera- tions.

John F. Edgar will head the

Midwest region as managing di- rector-marketing, with offices in

Chicago. Claudia Behrens and

Frank Ciciero will serve as direc- tors of administration.

As part of the Asian region re- organization, David Freidenrich has been named managing director-

Hong Kong; D. Peter Boyce, di- rector-Administration ; and Adolph

B. Zetterberg continues as director- operations (Hong Kong/Taiwan/

Manila). Mr. Freidenrich had been serving in Hong Kong as manager- traffic and operation control, and

Mr. Boyce as manager-finance and accounting.

In Japan/Korea, Donald G.

Moore continues as managing di- rector with offices in Tokyo, and

Edward J. McClafferty, director- operations north, also assumes the position of senior operations co- ordinator.

In Singapore, Raymond L. Lang- ridge, formerly manager - Singa- pore, was named managing direc- tor-marketing, succeeding Percy

M. Cotton, who is retiring after 40 years of service with APL. C.W.

Chua assumes the position of di- rector-administration, and Dieter

E. Hegger, formerly terminal man- ager-Singapore, becomes director- operations S'ingapore/Colombo-In- dia-Pakistan/Southeast Asia.

Francis K. Lee will continue to serve as managing director-mar- keting in Manila. Carlos E. Reyes, chief accountant, will be director- administration for the area.

Title XI For Boeing

Model 929 letfoil

A Title XI guarantee in connection with one Boeing model 929, 100- passenger Jetfoil at a cost of $4.3 mil- lion has been filed with the Maritime

Administration by Marianas Jetfoil,

Inc., P.O. Box 1458, Agana, Guam.

The vessel, which will ultimately be used in the tourist trade, will be built by Boeing Aerospace and is scheduled for delivery in August 1975.
