Veltre Coordinator

Eastern Division

Joseph M. Veltre has been ap- pointed Eastern Division Coordi- nator of United States Lines, ac- cording to an announcement by

William J. Keely, vice president-

Eastern Division.

In his new post, Mr. Veltre will organize and operate a Divisional

Information and Coordination Cen- ter that will assist Mr. Keely in effectively coordinating sales, con- tainer, terminal and vessel activi- ties in the division.

Mr. Veltre, who joined the com- pany in 1970, has been manager of corporate marketing. Previous- ly, he held management positions with American Export Isbrandtsen

Lines.

Steffan B. Vorenkamp

Steffan (Steve) B. Vorenkamp has been named vice president-op- erations of Acadian Marine Serv- ice, Inc., New Orleans, La.

Active in various aspects of the marine industry since 1941, Mr.

Vorenkamp has served as opera- tions manager for Santa Fe Inter- national Corp., vice president and general manager for Halter Marine

Services, Inc., and marine super- intendent and principal drill rig mover for Ocean Drilling and Ex- ploration Co. (ODECO). He has al- so served as an independent consultant on offshore supply boat construction methods.

Mr. Vorenkamp studied mechani- cal engineering at the University of California-Berkeley, and has completed several specialized ma- rine and oil industry schools. He is the author of "The Finer Points of Submersible Barge Moving."

His brother, Capt. Rudy Voren- kamp, is executive vice president of Acadian Marine Service, an in- ternational marine transportation company serving the oil field and construction industries.

Taywood-Santa Fe For

North Sea Drilling

Signal Oil and Gas Co., Ltd. has selected Taywood-Santa Fe as proj- ect manager for the initial drilling and production facilities in Thistle

Field in the North Sea.

Taywood-Santa Fe is a joint ven- ture formed by Taylor Woodrow

Construction Ltd. of Southall, Mid- dlesex, England, together with a sub- sidiary of Santa Fe International

Corporation, Orange, Calif.

Taywood-Santa, Fe will provide procurement services and will co- ordinate the engineering, fabrication and installation of a drilling and production platform in Block 211/18 in the U.K. Sector.

The platform, designed to handle production of 200,000 barrels a day, is planned for installation in approx- imately 530 feet of water during the 1976 construction season.

Thistle Field, 100 miles northeast of the Shetland Islands, is the north- ernmost field yet discovered in the

North Sea. It is scheduled to begin commercial production in 1977.
