The appointment of Victor Yih-

Yung Chen to the position of head of the Scientific Department in the Portsmouth, Virginia Produc- tion Division was announced re- cently by Richard R. Hopkins, assistant vice president of J.J.

Henry Co., Inc., Moorestown, N.J.

Victor Yih-Yung Chen

In his new capacity, Mr. Chen will direct engineering calcula- tions and analysis efforts within the Portsmouth Division, which specializes in developing detailed working plans and calculations for naval and commercial shipyards.

Mr. Chen has been employed in the Scientific Department of the

J.J. Henry Co.'s Moorestown Di- vision since 1974. Since that time, he has participated in all phases of the tasks normally associated with the scientific efforts, and has gained familiarity with almost every commercial and military ship type.

He graduated from the Univer- sity of Michigan in 1973 with a master's degree in naval archi- tecture, after receiving his bach- elor's degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the

Taiwan Provincial College of Ma- rine and Oceanic Technology. Mr.

Chen is a member of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine

Engineers, and the American So- ciety of Naval Engineers.
