Pine Bluff, Ark., has announced the recent completion and deliv- ery of two pushboats to owners in the Gulf Coast area. Each of the vessels is 56 feet long, with a beam of 22 feet and depth of 7 feet.
The Jo Ree, delivered to Weber
Marine, Inc. of Burnside, La. is powered by twin GM Detroit Die- sel Allison engines developing a total of 910 bhp at 1,800 rpm.
Among the other equipment in this vessel are Coolidge stainless- steel propellers Fernstrum keel coolers, Detroit Diesel 30-kw gen- erator sets, Ingersoll-Rand 3-hp air compressors, NABRICO 20- ton winches, Raytheon RAY-48
VHF radio, Kahlenberg air horn, and Perko searchlights.

Hitachi-Built Tanker Has
Many Advanced Features
Tanker Yuho Maru, completed recently by the Ariake yard of Hitachi Zosen, is pow- ered by a 20,400-bhp Hitachi/Sulzer 6RLA 90 diesel that gave a trial speed of 16.6 knots.

Works of Hitachi Zosen, was de- livered recently to the Yuyo
Steamship Company, Ltd. of Ja- pan. The ship will operate be- tween Japan and ports in the
Arabian Gulf and Singapore.
Extensive fuel-saving meas- ures are incorporated in the new ship, including a fuel-saving, low- speed, long-stroke Hitachi/Sulzer diesel engine, model 6RLA90; a turbogenerator utilizing a two- stage, pressure-type exhaust gas economizer; and hull coating of a self-polishing copolymer type.
The cargo oil piping system in- side the tanks is designed to han- dle three different kinds of crude oil. Highly corrosion-resistant cast steel pipe is used in the system.
The ship is equipped and con- structed to conform with SOLAS 1974 and its Protocol of 1978, as well as MAPOL 1973 and its
Protocol of 1978.
Two control rooms—one for en- gine control and the other for cargo handling—have been com- bined into one to reduce person- nel needed, and located on the up- per deck. For cargo handling con- trol, magnetic float level gauges of the explosion-proof type, and pneumacator type level indicators have been adopted to permit mon- itoring of cargo oil and ballast wa- ter tank levels.
The main engine is remote-con- trolled from the wheelhouse, and a sophisticated automatic control and monitoring system is installed to permit 24-hour unattended op- eration of the engine room.
A maritime satellite communi- cations system permits the recep- tion of high-quality audio and telex communications, as well as instantaneous telephone connec- tions.
The Yuho Maru has an overall length of 233 meters, beam of 41.8 meters, depth of 19.6 me- ters, and full-load draft of 12.77 meters (764.4 / 137.1 / 64.3 / 41.9 feet). Classed by Nippon Kaiji
Kyokai, the ship has a comple- ment of 30.
