Star of Chicago

To Star Line Corporation

The Star of Chicago, built by Blount Marine and powered by

GM 12V-71 engines.

Blount Marine Corporation of Warren, R.I., announced the delivery of the 150-foot by 35- foot Star of Chicago to Star Line Corporation of East Lansing, Mich.

The Star of Chicago is a Bay Queen style dinner boat with a passenger capacity of 600 and seating for 450 in two dining rooms. She is reported to be the largest dinner boat in the world.

Blount originally began the design and con- struction of the vessel as a make-work pro- gram to avoid layoffs. The goal was to produce a design for a multi-use vessel, i.e., dinner boat, excursion boat, or mini-cruise ship. The final design plans engineered by Blount archi- tects made possible a switch at the last min- ute to complete the vessel for any of these

A POWERFUL PULL—The most powerful group of tugs ever assembled in British waters—providing 98,000 horsepower— pull a 111,750 ton oil production platform into the North

Sea, heading towards Phillips Petroleum's Maureen Field in the UK Sector of the North Sea, 163 miles (262 km) north- east Aberdeen. Built at Loch Kishorn in Scotland, the plat- form will take seven days to reach its destination. Once on site, its three storage tank legs (round objects on the base) will be ballasted with sea water and the platform allowed to settle on the seabed over an already installed stP°' *~~>plate.

The touchdown position must be within 25 centimetres (9.84 ins.) of target. First oil through the platform is scheduled for the end of this year, aiming at a peak prodir'ion flow of 70,000 barrels per day from the reserved es*' ;,ite of 150 million barrels.
