Tl Has A New Fleet Management

System To Improve Vessel

Operating Efficiency

Texas Instruments has an- managers a promising new home- nounced the new TI Marine Busi- office tool for improving vessel oper- ness System designed to give fleet ating efficiency. Designed to utilize information logged by a TI 8000

Integrated Marine System installed on individual vessels, the system permits managers to download in- formation to a Texas Instruments

Professional Computer, and to ap- ply advanced computer spreadsheet capabilities to the analysis of vessel operation. "With the TI Marine Business

System interfaced to a Texas In- struments PC equipped with Lotus 1-2-3 software, fleet managers can use a variety of spreadsheet tech- niques to study a broad spectrum of vessel operating parameters—from speed and fuel efficiency to engine life and crew performance," said

Gary Howe, marketing manager for Texas Instruments Marine

Products.

The company reports the system was created to help vessel owners and managers make the most of the information logged by their TI 8000

Integrated Marine System. It pro- vides a complete, easy-to-use sys- tem for monitoring and maximizing vessel operating efficiency, particu- larly with regard to fuel efficiency.

Mr. Howe also reported recent studies for some major fleet opera- tors indicate a fuel savings of up to 25 percent.

Information can be analyzed and correlated in a variety of ways—by vessel, by captain, or by trip. Totals and averages can be calculated for each category. With the addition of word processing and file manage- ment software, the user can gener- ate files, reports, charts, and graphs for further study.

The new system consists of TI

Marine Business System software, a

TI 8010 Command Module, a power supply, cables, and operating manu- al. A Tl Professional Computer with appropriate software and peripher- als is also required.

A.M.T. Electrolytic System

Now Available With An

Automatic Alarm Unit

The C-2000 electrolytic antifoul- ing and corrosion-suppression sys- tem manufactured by A.M.T. Incor- porated of Miami is now available with a solid-state control panel that incorporates a digital display and automatic alarm system to indicate any malfunction during operation.

The C-2000 system operates on an electrolytic principle to treat sea- water passing through the cooling equipment and fire main services on ships, offshore rigs, or shore instal- lations using seawater. The treat- ment, which continuously feeds cop- per and aluminum ions into the sea- water, creates an environment in which primary forms of marine life cannot settle. This process elimi- nates fouling on internal metal sur- faces of pipework, valves, etc., as well as providing an anti-corrosion protective coating formed by the aluminum ions.

Dont put up with a leaker!

Self-lubricating nylon bearings; no metal-to- metal contact for better wear resistance.

Simple 2-screw- adjustment packing gland is easy to repack.

Stainless-steel, quick-lock clamps on access door for easy re-lamping underway.

Self-locking eleva- tion twist-lever and wheel controls stay where you put them. \ III /

The packing gland on this

PHOENIX Super-Search- lite™ fixture keeps water out of the pilot house. It's watertight to begin with.

And easy to keep that way, because you can adjust or re- pack it anytime. Without pulling the head and shaft.

That's remarkable enough, but there's more. Just check these other features that make

PHOENIX a valuable hand on deck: Nylon bearings; self-locking elevation control; quick- clamped access door.

PHOENIX. The searchlight that works as hard as you do.

It's no leaker.
