America. Mr. Wilson comes to
MWM from the Terex Corporation of Hudson, Ohio, where he served as director of marketing. Prior to Ter- ex, he held positions in the domestic and international marketing organi- zation of the Clark Equipment
Company, a major material han- dling manufacturer, headquartered in Battlecreek, Mich.
MWM-Murphy is based in Mil- waukee, Wise., and is the U.S. sub- sidiary of Motoren-Werke Mann- heim (MWM) of Mannheim, West
Germany. MWM is a worldwide en- gine supplier with manufacturing facilities in Munich and Mannheim;
Zafra, Spain; Sao Paulo, Brazil and
Milwaukee, Wise.
Midland Affliated Co.
Agrees In Principle To
Acquire Federal Barge
Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates and Houston Natural Gas Corpora- tion announced recently that East- ern's wholly owned marine subsid- iary, Midland Affiliated Company, has agreed in principle to acquire
Federal Barge Lines Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Houston Natu- ral.
A formal agreement is expected to be completed by December and will be subject to approval by the boards of both Eastern and Houston Natu- ral. The purchase price was not dis- closed.
Midland, headquartered in Cin- cinnati, operates on the inland wa- terways carrying commodities, prin- cipally coal, on the Ohio, Illinois and
Mississippi Rivers as well as the
Gulf of Mexico. Total tonnage car- ried in 1984 should exceed 35 mil- lion tons. Federal, headquartered in
St. Louis, operates mainly on the
Mississippi River, with grain and coal comprising the bulk of an esti- mated six million tons carried in 1984.
Boston-based Eastern Gas and
Fuel Associates is the parent organi- zation of several energy-related companies engaged in coal produc- tion, natural gas distribution, inland marine transportation and oil and gas distribution, inland marine
December 1, 1984 KHD transportation and oil and gas de- velopment. For the nine months ended September 30, 1984, East- ern's revenues totaled $1.0 billion and net income was $51.5 million.
HNG owns the largest intrastate pipeline in the country with about 5,300 miles of pipeline crisscrossing
Texas and is actively engaged in oil and gas exploration, development and production. For the year ended
July 31, 1984, revenues from con- tinuing operations totaled $2.1 bil- lion and net income was $122.1 mil- lion.

San Francisco, Inc. of San Francis- co.
Continental Maritime, formerly the SFW Corporation repair facili- ty, recently placed an order with
M.A.N. GHH Sterkrade in Ober- hausen, West Germany, for con- struction of a new 25,000-ton lifting capacity floating drydock that is scheduled for delivery in May 1985.
In addition to the new floating dock,
Continental has also expanded its repair capabilities with the addition of more than 550,000 square feet of piers and shops.
