Samsung Gets $25-Million

Contract From Caltex For

Crude/Products Tanker

Samsung Shipbuilding and Heavy

Industries Company, Ltd. of South

Korea recently signed a contract valued at $25 million for construc- tion of a 95,000-dwt crude oil and petroleum products tanker for Cal- tex Company of Australia. To be built at Samsung's Koje Shipyard, the carrier will have an overall length of 754.6 feet, beam of 151 feet, depth of 63 feet, and scantling draft of 44.6 feet. Main propulsion will be provided by a Korean-built

B&W 5L80MCE diesel developing 15,950 bhp at 83 rpm. Cruising speed will be 15.4 knots.

The tanker will be classed by

Lloyd's Register of Shipping and fly the Australian flag. Following de- livery in July 1986, she will operate between Australia and the Middle

East.

Donald T. Green has recently been appointed associate marketing director for the Transportation

Marketing Group of AMP Special

Industries, Valley Forge, Pa.

In his new capacity, Mr. Green will have responsibility for the sales and marketing of AMP products to the following industries: railroads, mass transit signal and equipment manufacturers, shipbuilding, the

United States Navy, General Avia- tion, the operating airlines, the FAA and truck and bus manufacturers.

He will also be responsible for new business development in the North- eastern section of the U.S.
