Wager Announces New

Diesel Exhaust Meter —Literature Available

The Wager Model 650 is a new, portable diesel exhaust meter for use in checking, to air quality stan- dards, the emissions of diesel- powered work boats, fishing vessels, barges, dredges, and offshore drill rigs.

This meter measures the opacity of diesel emissions to within 1 per- cent accuracy, a precise reference for fine tuning combustion to ac- ceptable emission standards.

The Wager meter, easy to carry about and use, consists of a portable exhaust monitor, cable connected to a portable control unit. The monitor easily clamps to diesel engine ex- hausts of any configuration, all di- ameters up to 6 inches. A light sen- sor in the monitor reads both the opacity and optical density of emis- sions, continuously relaying its readings to the control unit for large

LCD display. A green LED emitter as the monitor's light source insures the 1 percent accuracy of readings, even in artificial light.

The portable control unit, no larger than a hand and weighing under 5 pounds is housed in a light- weight, strong aluminum case. A 25- foot connecting cable allows com- plete mobility in testing.

The Wager 650 Smoke Meter, which operates on battery power, features solid state components, mil spec throughout. It meets EPA, all

ISO and SAE specifications, and comes with 1-year warranty.

Brochure Details

Hagglunds Cargo Cranes

ASEA Hagglunds, Inc. is offering a free, 32-page full-color booklet on their extensive range of cargo cranes.

The handsomely soft-covered publication is oversized and fea- tures several large, outstanding full- color photographs of some of Hagg- lunds' 300 standard type cargo cranes.

The text, which is printed on a high quality paper, quotes several maritime corporation executives, of- ficers, engineers and dock personnel on the advantages of owning and operating a crane made by Hagg- lunds. The text is broken into over a dozen articles with such titles as "Not Every Shipowner Realizes the

Economics of Cargo Handling," "Precision in Cargo Handling is

Just as Important as Speed," "When it Comes to Easy Handling,

Hagglunds is One of the Best Cranes

Around," and "Quality Translates

Into an Attractive Bottom Line."

In addition, the booklet also in- cludes a four-page fold-out section featuring a full-color cutaway draw- ing of a Hagglunds' cargo crane. In the fold-out section, there is a list- ing of the types of cranes that Hagg- lunds offers. There is the S-Crane, for installation as service cranes on all types of vessels with a safe work- ing load (SWL) of 3-10 tons; H-

Cranes, for fast cargo handling (in excess of 50 m/min at full load) on small ships, with an SWL of 12-20 tons; G-Cranes, which are said to be the most popular crane type any- where in the world, and which are used for bulk cargoes and containers and have an SWL of 20-60 tons; K-

Cranes, which are bulk cargo cranes with mechanical grabs—these rein- forced, high-output units are made for 24-hour operation and have an

SWL of 25 tons; L-Cranes, which are special container cranes with very compact installation dimen- sions to maximize container capac- ity on board and which are said to be the only special container crane with all machinery fully enclosed and with internal entry (it has an

SWL of 25-40 tons); Gantry Cranes, which are built to suit any ship; Off- shore Cranes, with an SWL of up to 200 tons and are used for drilling rigs, service and diving rigs and

MSV platforms; Twin Cranes, which use Hagglunds' H, G and L cranes for tandem installation to double lifting capacity; and Team

Cranes®, which are used for two- point attachment for long loads or for really heavy work, up to 240 tons—use single or twin cranes op- erated in coordination.

The booklet says that Hagglunds offers the most extensive range of cranes anywhere in the world. A total of about 300 cranes, if all vari- ants are included. The publication also states that "if 300 standard types aren't enough, we'll design and build number 301."

Futhermore, the booklet de- scribes Hagglunds' optional four- year guarantee which would extend their product guarantee, and pro- vide extra protection against un- foreseen expenditures.
