Marine Superintendent

Will oversee shore-based operations of an oceanographic research vessel.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overseeing the opera- tion of the oceanographic research vessel; managing selected aspects of the shore-based office, including logistics, personnel, pre- paring and establishing budgets; fiscal management; recruiting crew members, personnel affairs; assisting in the establishment of ship's schedules; and arranging port calls for the research vessel. Reports directly to the Associate Director for Marine Affairs.

B.S. or higher degree required, plus at least 10 years' experience in

Marine Management and the operation of seagoing vessels. License as a ship's officer, preferably with seagoing experience. Prior work in an educational or research environment, as well as knowledge of PC operations and spreadsheets, highly desirable. Excellent benefits.

Spill Prevention Program. Petroleum Production Inspector candidates need from one to five years of experience in field petroleum development, production or inspection work, with off-shore experience highly desirable. Marine Terminal Safety Inspector/

Coordinator candidates need a minimum of five years of experience in a marine/maritime program, which requires experience in ship handling and petroleum transporting activities, such as shipboard machinery and piping systems and ship handling, mooring and anchoring. Salaries range from $2,248 to $3,759 per month, for

Petroleum Production Inspectors, and from $2,827 to $3,921 per month, for Marine Technical Safety Inspectors/Coordinators.
