Ship Analytics Wins $3.5 Million Brazilian
Simulator Contract
The Brazilian Navy Ministry of
Ports and Coasts has recently awarded a $3,500,000 contract to
Ship Analytics, Inc., of North
Stonington, Conn, for a full mission shiphandling simulator. This is the second award within six months for
Ship Analytics, following an award from the Port of Singapore Author- ity for approximately $5 million in
October.
The system will be used by the
Brazilian Navy as well as Brazilian shipping companies, including
Petrobras, a primary sponsor of the simulator and Brazil's leading en- ergy and transportation company.
This is the first installation of this type of simulator technology in South
America.
The simulator is designed for net- working a combat information cen- ter (CIC) and navigation trainer for naval applications as well as a 4 ownship radar and ARPA trainer for radar plotting certification and cadet training. The overall configu- ration architecture will allow the eventual networking of 5 ships in combined exercises and has the ca- pacity for training up to 20 students at one time.
Ship Analytics is a major manu- facturer of shiphandling and train- ing simulation systems for the ma- rine industry, as well as national and international defense markets.
System delivery is scheduled for early 1993 with training to being in
April 1993. Installation and train- ing will be facilitated by a Brazilian firm, Elebra, a major South Ameri- can high technology simulation firm.

Minehunter includes a 2-page draw- ing of the vessel's profile and inter- nal layout and an entire page illus- trating the various minesweeping techniques that can be utilized by the multi-role vers-ion of the class.

VT's extensive experience in the field.
