Kockums To Launch New

Generation Of Shipbuilding Systems

Kockums Computer Systems (KCS) recently announced that

Tribon, a totally integrated design and information system created to fit the specific business needs of the shipbuilding industry, will be avail- able this October.

According to KCS, Tribon is tai- lor-made to support the main activi- ties in the shipbuilding process, in- cluding: tendering; design; produc- tion; materials; planning; finance; and follow-up.

Tribon, by improving accessibil- ity to information, gives the user full control over all stages of build- ing a vessel, from tendering through delivery. To date Kvaerner Masa-

Yards, Turku and Helsinki yards,

Finland, and Kvaerner Warnow

Werft, Rostock-Warnemunde, Ger- many, have all purchased the Tribon hull application. Some of the fea- tures Tribon possesses which make the system beneficial to the indus- try include: a specialized design ap- plication for all disciplines inte- grated into one environment; prod- uct information model database; production information for parts manufacture; integration of a mate- rials application with design appli- cations; use of industry standards e.g. the graphical interface PHIGS new modern user interface; ant more. Tribon is available on Digita and Hewlett Packard, and soon IBIV hardware. Some of the benefits o using Tribon, as touted by KCS, in elude reduced contract elapsed tim< from order to delivery, reducec manhours in design and productioi and reduced cost for materials.

For tendering, Tribon sports ai array of tools to make the initia project design in a structured way t< allow full details for exact pricing

For design, the system contains spe cialized design applications for hul structure, pipe work, cabling, ac commodation, etc. For parts pro duction, Tribon generates necessary production information which car save the designer time, and in as sembly the system provides tools t( define each assembly stage and ere ate the specific production informa tion for each assembly.

Also, Tribon can be fully inte grated with the data processing sys tems of other departments. Foi more information on Tribon fron

Power: low draw 12 volt system drawing 6 amps or 110 volt drawing 10 amps

Unique Simple Process

Sewage flows from the head directly into the

Digestor(s) where it makes its way through a series of baffles. It is broken down and dissolved by natural bacterial action during this stage.

The resulting liquid (effluent) is then pumped through the Filter and passes through the chlorinator, where the final stage of purification and deodorization takes place.

Upkeep simply requires an addition of the Humphrey

Activator flushed through the head periodically, a spot check on the chlorine pellets and filter. Thats it,
