TSA Helps Provide Total

Monitoring Solutions

Tracking Systems of America,

Inc. (TSA) is currently working with the Maritime Administration track- ing contracted levels of performance on a number of ships on the east coast. TSA was born out of a need to provide concise, timely and accu- rate information to facilitate quicker, more effective decision making. At the TSA facility, data from the port engineer and the con- tractor is input and run through a custom designed comparative analy- sis software program. The program evaluates the contracted plan, as pre- scribed by the Gantt and Pert charts, and compares them to the current progress information as reported.

Marine Interface Corp. of Floral

Park, N.Y. offers conventional IBM- compatible interface systems and software for marine system moni- toring. The company specializes in the production of interface equip- ment and software for a variety of commercial marine applications. All system development, programming and construction are done in-house, and the firm is presently marketing customized tank level indication systems as well as propulsion plant monitoring and alarm equipment.

All of these systems make use of conventional IBM compatible com- puters for their processing power, color graphic displays and commu- nications ability. By having a wheel- house mounted personal computer and engine interface unit the vessel's operator can, for example, be pro- vided with a color graphic display of all engine parameters while the ves- sel is underway. Electronic chart- ing software can be run simulta- neously with the engine monitoring system to provide a single split screen display of vessel position and engine parameters. A Marine In- terface engine monitoring and chart- ing system has been installed on the 130-foot dinner boat Mystique lo- cated at Pier 9 in New York.
