Tailored to the task: the S90MC-T engine for VLCCs

The established 800mm bore S80MC design - by far the most popular choice for powering modern VLCCs - is complemented by the new S90MC-T series, a longer- stroke 900mm bore model tailored for large tanker propulsion duty.

The power demands of VLCCs can thus be met by fewer cylinders, the S90MC-T series embracing 5, 6 and 7-cylinder versions covering an output band from 15,500 to 31,920 kW (21,100 to 43,400 bhp). Optimum propeller efficiency is secured by the design's layout flexibility which allows operators to select maximum continuous speeds between 75 and 64 r/min.

MC two-stroke engines 2,000 - 74,640 bhp
