Lokring Corporation of Foster

City, Calif., develops, manufactures and markets a complete line of Elas- tic Strain Preload (ESP) mechani- cally attached fittings (MAFs) in three materials: 90/10 copper nickel, 316L stainless steel and carbon steel.

In late 1993, the 90/10 copper nickel fittings through 2 NPS, and 316L stainless steel fittings through 1 NPS, received full NAVSEA sur- face ship approval (including fire hazardous areas and systems ap- proval). All three fitting lines have

American Bureau of Shipping type approval and U.S. Coast Guard ac- ceptance and meet the 1,700° F heat requirement. Reportedly the most widely used MAF for new construc- tion and repair of U.S. Navy surface ships, the ESP pipe joining technol- ogy is reportedly a simple, reliable and low-cost solution for field join- ing pipe through 2 NPS. The pat- ented Lokring ESP design employs a metal-to-metal seal without the need for O-rings.
