Will function as project engineer on marine group projects and multi- discipline projects involving naval architecture. Perform hydrodynamic and dynamic analysis for floating offshore platforms including using

MOSES and WAMIT computer programs. Will also analyze linear and nonlinear environmental forces (wave, current and wind forces) on the offshore platform and its motion. Required to optimize dimension of platform to minimize environmental forces and motion of platform. Also perform structural design of offshore platforms, including finite element analysis, fatigue analysis and probabilistic analysis using COSMOS,

ANSYS, MICROSAS and ABACUS. Responsible for mooring design including static and dynamic analysis of mooring system using nonlin- ear finite element methods. Also responsible for stability studies to ana- lyze intact and damaged stability of platform with a focus on safety stan- dards. Evaluate structural integrity and design procedures for platform load-out and tie-down, launch, upend and flotation including the super- vision of the field execution of the procedure. Develop model test plans and supervise model tests for the design of offshore platforms. Prepare engineering schedules and cost estimates for assigned naval architec- ture projects. 40 hrs/wk. Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:00am to 5:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm. The Marine Engineering Technology Program - Texas Maritime Acad- emy of Texas A&M University at Galveston - invites applications for a full-time academic-year position as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Marine Engineering Technology. Initial teaching responsibilities may include courses in diesel engines and diesel propulsion plants, marine air conditioning & refrigeration, introductory marine engi- neering fundamentals, shipboard automation or marine electricity and electronics. This position is available commencing with the spring semester - January 1997. Applicants with a masters degree in Na- val Architecture/Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,

Marine Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Tech- nology and at least five years of relevant industrial experience are preferred. The successful applicant must hold a current U.S. Coast

Guard engineer officer unlimited horsepower license, with a rating of Chief Engineer or First Assistant Engineer - steam and motor - preferred, and a degree in a relevant engineering field. Registra- tion as a Professional Engineer a definite plus. Previous teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable. Applicants must have a strong interest in teaching and advising undergraduate students, training and professional development of maritime cadets for licensure and employment in the maritime industry, and strength- ening university and industiy relations.
