Njord will be one of the first fields on the Norwegian continental shelf in which this technology is used.

Production in the field is slated for

October 1997. The vessel can store 112,000-cu-m, or roughly 10 days of production. The offloading of stabilized oil to shuttle tankers is arranged through a flexible hose in the stern of the FSU.

The offloading rated is 8,000-cu- m/hr. The FSU will be equipped with a 2.5-MW azimu thing thruster located in the aft, which will be used for heading control at the offloading phase.

Classed by DNV, the FSU is designed for 15 years of continuous operation.
