YEARS AGO, when Main Iron Works built this tugboat, the owner selected our competitor's engines instead of our 900 HP Detroit Diesel 16V149S.
Now, over three decades later, the competitor's engines are worn out — and are no longer manufactured. Replacement parts are expensive and hard to find, relative to Detroit Diesel's.
The answer: replace the engine with Stewart & Stevenson's rebuilt 16V149s, still currently manu- factured. New and exchange replacement parts are still currently available. It is not uncommon for us to replace our competitor's obsolete engines with
