Canadian Shipbuilding Wins Fleet Renewal Contract

The Compact GMDSS Console available in 250 W/400 W/800W easy to use easy to install modern technology

The new compact console comprises a 250 W/400 W/800 W MF/HF radio station, type STR 2000 with built-in DSC, telex and telephone, duplicated with an INMARSAT-C terminal, type STR 1500 C, and a VHF radio telephone with DSC, type STR 8400. All this equipment together with necessary power supplies, printers and keyboards is mounted in one console for easy and fast installation.

The project is a firm contract for [three vessels for delivery in the spring of 1999, 2000 and 2001, and rill allow for an option for two additional vessels for delivery in 2002 and 2003.

The new forebody was designed

When completed, it will be towed to the tie-up wall adjacent to the drydock.

The J. W. McGiffin will then be floated into the dock and the fore- body separated from the stern, and floated out of the dock. The new hull will then be brought into the dock and joined to the stern.
