Ingalls To Outfit Drillship
For Transocean
Ingalls Shipbuilding has signed a contract to outfit the new drillship
Discoverer Enterprise, for
Transocean Offshore Inc. The con- tract, worth approximately $3.6 million, calls for Ingalls to load and integrate the final major compo- nents aboard the ship, including the substructure and derrick, as well as completing final outfitting.
Discoverer Enterprise is a techno- logically advanced drillship, capa- ble of drilling in waters up to 10,000 ft. (3.048 m) deep. The ves- sel is being built at Astilleros

Halter Marine Group, Inc. has delivered OSV Kristin Fagan, the third vessel of Halter's new gener- ation of 205-ft. (62.5-m) OSVs from
Halter Marine, Lockport, La., to her owners, Futuristic Boats.
Kristin Fagan follows Admiral
Tide built for Tidewater, Inc., and
Seabulk Oklahoma built for
Seabulk Offshore, Ltd.
The all-steel vessel is powered by two EMD 16-645-E6 diesel engines developing a total of 3,900 hp through Reintjes WAF-1941 gears.
Maneuverability and thrust is aided by an SMI 460 bowthruster.
Navigation equipment was provid- ed by Furuno, communications equipment by Hose-McCann, and pollution control equipment pro- vided by Alfa-Laval. Deck equip- ment includes a McElroy 1.25-in. anchor windlass. The three deck ship has accommodations for 16 persons. More than 12 tons of
Carrier air conditioning and heat- ing provide comfort in all accom- modation areas.

The Ingalls team involved in the program will include a core group of shipbuilders, test engineers, naval architects and reliability engineers.
