PORT CAPTAIN I OPERATIONS (HOUSTON,TEXAS)

Supervise ships' activities while in port. Employer spe- cializes in the transport of cargo to and from Russia and the United States. Gulf and port captain would need to be able to effectively deal with ships coming from Russia.

Direct all cargo loading and discharge operations in assigned ports of call. Coordinate compliance with regu- latory requirements relating to ship operations, environ- mental / pollution standards, workplace safety, handing of cargo and hazardous materials. Arrange all scheduled and emergency maintenance and repairs for vessel, engines and auxiliary equipment. Assist captains of all vessels with preparation of necessary documentation and submission to cargo, port, insurance and other matters.

Liaison with shippers and cosignees cargo. Manage and approve all expenses associated with the foregoing and in keeping with approved budgets. Supervise ships' activi- ties while in port. Salary is $65,000 a year. Requirements for this position is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and two years experience as a deep-sea captain. Engineer to develop drydock and repair specifications in con- junction with Ship Management Team regarding defects and

Service Team standards, timing, location, production sched- ules, and budget; tender bids; select yard in conjunction with

Fleet Manager; manage drydocking using Microsoft Project or any project management software incorporating

PERT/CPM and Gantt charts; coordinate inspection of yard work with outside contractors, vendors; purchasing and deliv- ery of material; maintenance and repair activities including repair of insured items; negotiate yard bill; and develop post- docking reports and accounting. Provide technical guidance,

T-fitter and T-coater support, purchasing and expediting ser- vices and other in-house or contracted technical services; develop annual technical and consumable budget and 5 year drydock budget together with Fleet Manager; monitor perfor- mance against budget utilizing Excel 6.0; verify that Company

Safety and Quality Management System is in place and func- tioning properly on assigned vessels; report deficiencies to system auditors; evaluate performance and condition of the ship and its Ship Management Team; recommend training, placement, assignment, and hiring of SMT member.

Experience must include direct maintenance and repair of diesel-electric propulsion systems and overhaul of medium speed diesels, in particular Wartsila Vasa 32 engine type; direct experience with complex hydraulic drive systems, motors, pumps repair maintenance; direct experience with technique of burning heavy fuel oil in diesel engines and equipment used to purify; experience with steel renewals in drydocking procedures. Must be familiar with IMO regula- tions for construction and operation of chemical tankers; must have working knowledge of MMS FleetWORKS Planned and

Preventative Maintenance system; must be able to use Excel 6.0 to handle drydock quotations and calculations and pre- pare budget statements.
