Reintjes 3.654:1 reversing reduction gear. MUlheim, with a width of 38-ft. (11.7 m) and a draft of 14.5 ft. (4.5 m) is designed for the European inland canals and rivers, as well as for sea traffic.

July. Jan E. Grundtman has been appointed chairman of the board and general manager of MaK Motoren. Dr.

Hollunder entered service with MaK in 1984, and was appointed chairman of the board on July 1, 1993.

VTC Secures Diesel Electric

Propulsion Contract

Vosper Thornycroft Controls (VTC) won a contract from Ferguson Ship- builders to provide a diesel electric propulsion system for a new lighthouse and buoy tender vessel. The 164 ft. (50 m), 1,100-gt vessel is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2000, and VTC is currently carrying out design work on the electrical system which comprises three 876 kW diesel generators deliver- ing power to two 1,000 kW azimuthing stern thrusters and two 210 kW bowthrusters.
