Huntington Ingalls Industries president and CEO Mike Petters was honored by the Navy League of the United States

Sates’ security and economic prosper- ity. A native of Florida, Petters earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the

U.S. Naval Academy in 1982, served aboard the nuclear-powered submarine

USS George Bancroft (SSBN 643) and spent fi ve years in the U.S. Naval Re- serve. In 1993, he earned a master’s de- gree in business administration from the

College of William and Mary.

CEOs of DHT. Harfjeld and Munthe have been CEO and President of DHT respectively, since joining DHT in 2010.

Midshipman Yerkes-Medina Honored

Year Award for 2014 to Midshipman

Robert Francisco Yerkes-Medina in cer- emonies at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The award recognizes a member of the graduating class who has demonstrated outstanding navigation skills and knowl- edge during his or her four years at the academy and is part of a naval support tradition at Northrop Grumman. This is the fi fth year the company has sponsored the award.

Howard Delivers Kings Point Address

The class of 2014 from the U.S. Mer- chant Marine Academy (USMMA) in- cluded 225 new Merchant Marine and

Military Offi cers graduated last month.

Vice Admiral Michelle J. Howard, Dep- uty Chief of Naval Operations for Op- erations, Plans and Strategy, delivered the commencement address. USMMA is one of the fi ve federal service academies.

The school is funded by the Department of Transportation and has a mission to educate and graduate licensed Merchant

Marine offi cers. Graduates from USM-

MA receive a Bachelor of Science De- gree, an unlimited merchant marine offi - cer license from the United States Coast

Guard, and an offi cer’s commission in one of the branches of the military.

Brown Appointed COO at LR

Lloyd’s Register announced the appoint- ment of Nick Brown, previously Direc- tor Business Development & Innova- tion, as the group’s new Marine Chief

Operating Offi cer. Reporting to Marine

Director Tom Boardley, Brown will be responsible for LR’s four global operat- ing regions – Asia, Americas, Northern

Europe and Southern Europe. David

Barrow becomes Regional Marine Man- ager (RMM) for a new Northern Europe region while Apostolos Poulovassilis is

RMM for Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Iain Wilson and Tim Prothe- roe remain in their Asia and Americas roles. Brown will retain leadership of the Business Development & Innovation team, including Luis Benito (Market- ing), Hector Sewell (Sales) and Gwynne

Lewis (Consulting) who will be joined by LR’s other Nick Brown, the Global

Alfultis New Head of SUNY Maritime

Coast Guard captain, and the direc- tor and chief administrative offi cer of the University of Connecticut’s Avery

Point campus, has been named as the next president of the SUNY Maritime

College. With more than 20 years of un- dergraduate teaching experience and 13 years of progressive academic adminis- trative responsibility at both military and civilian institutions of higher education,

Alfultis brings a uniquely diverse back- ground to the presidency at Fort Schuy- ler. His background includes service as an operations offi cer and navigator on a

U.S. Coast Guard cutter; maritime safety and security; Coast Guard Academy fac- ulty member and academic department chair; and senior administrator at a fl ag- ship university.

OW Bunker Acquires WMF

OW Bunker, a physical distributor and reseller of marine fuels, acquired marine fuel broker Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels, a subsidiary of Norwegian Wilhelmsen

Maritime Services, for an undisclosed sum.

GAC Appoints Group VP

GAC appointed Fredrik Nystrom as its new Group Vice President for the Asia

Pacifi c region. He takes over from Dan

Hjalmarsson, who has retired. Nystrom has been GAC’s Regional Business Con- troller based at the Regional Offi ce in

Singapore since 2007, and he will work to expand the business.

Chin to Lead Wallem Ship Agency

Wallem Ship Agency has a new leader in

Dickson Chin, who has been promoted to the position of Managing Director.

Chin has been with Wallem Ship Agen- cies since 2008, initially in the role of

General Manger for the Hong Kong ship agency business, and in 2012 was pro- moted to Managing Director for Indo-

China.

Gallaudet Relieves Brown

Rear Adm. Timothy C. Gallaudet re- lieved Rear Adm. Brian B. Brown as commander of the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (NAV-

METOCCOM) in a traditional change of command ceremony held June 18 at

Stennis Space Center. Gallaudet was promoted to the rank of rear admiral (lower half) just prior to the ceremony.

SCB’s Hong Kong offi ce as director – technical services, Asia, towards the end of July.

Fernstrum Owners Purchase WEKA

Netherlands’ based WEKA Boxcool- ers B.V., manufacturer of copper nickel boxcoolers, was recently purchased by

Dunlap & McCullough Holdings LLC, a holding company owned by Paul Fern- strum, Sean Fernstrum, and Todd Fern- strum. Paul Fernstrum, Sean Fernstrum, and Todd Fernstrum also own R.W.

Fernstrum & Company. The purchase of the Netherlands’ based company was fi - nalized April 30, 2014.

IHC Merwede to Become Royal IHC

His Majesty the King awarded the hon- orary title of Koninklijk (Royal) to IHC

Merwede. In a special ceremony, the

Mayor of Sliedrecht, Mr. van Hemmen, presented this accolade to IHC Mer- wede’s CEO, Bram Roelse. In light of this honor, the company has decided to change its name to Royal IHC and will also include the royal crown in its re- vised corporate identity.
