Meyer Turku: Mardi Gras to Carnival

Meyer Turku delivered a 180,000 gt, LNG-powered cruise ship to Carnival Cruise Line. Mardi Gras has classical ship lines and predominately blue hull. The ship’s centerpiece is a three-stories-high atrium in the middle of the ship, opening up to a ? oor-to-ceiling window and movable LED screens. From the atrium, passengers are able to enjoy a close connection to the sea and marvel the views. While the ship has ‘classic’ lines, a decidedly modern amenity is Bolt, the ? rst ever roller coaster built on a ship. Bolt lets you to do the driving, you will be able to control the speed of the ride with a top speed of 40 mph. Mardi Gras features 2600 staterooms and 180 suites across eleven categories to accomodate 5,200 passengers, and is planned to enter service from Port Canaveral, Florida in

April 2021.

Royal IHC, APC Launch CSD Alyarmouk

Arab Potash Company (APC) and Royal IHC (IHC) launched the cutter suction dredger (CSD) Alyarmouk at IHC’s ship- yard in Krimpen a/d IJssel, The Netherlands. The vessel is a 3,557kW CSD and a further developed copy of the dredger

Jarash, which IHC delivered to APC in 2018. APC will use

Alyarmouk at its site in Jordan, where it will cut and remove crystallized salt under harsh conditions. Alyarmouk is the last of three contracts signed between APC and IHC earlier this year. The ? rst was for an IHC Beaver 65, a 2,819-kW dis- mountable CSD that was modi? ed in order to work ef? ciently in the Dead Sea. The second was a three-year maintenance deal for the IHC dredgers Jarash and Mutah, with the purpose of achieving and maintaining an agreed level of uptime.After the launch, Alyarmouk will be commissioned and tested. Once concluded, the vessel will be lifted out of the water, demount- ed and transported to Jordan.

Paramount Maritime launched its second of three Survey Mo- tor Boats (SMBs) for the South African Navy to enhance the capabilities and infrastructure of the South African Navy Hy- drographic Of? ce (SANHO). Veecraft Marine, a subsidiary of Paramount Maritime, had been tasked with the design and manufacture of the three Survey Motor Boats, all of which having taken place in their shipyard in Cape Town, South Afri- ca. In addition to the three Survey Motor Boats to be delivered to the South African Navy Hydrographic Of? ce (SANHO), this program also provides for the delivery of a Hydrographic

Survey Vessel and a Sea Boat as well as a third, fully opera- tional inshore Survey Motor Boat, to remain ashore and in re- serve.
