accurately depict the location of subsea items being placed on the ocean ß oor. Penta Ocean chose the SIDUS SS250 Pan and Tilt system for its high resolution positioning and strength. Penta Ocean designed the lowering arm to raise and lower the sonar package using the SS250 side loading strength to handle such extremes. It proved excellent. Penta Ocean is very pleased with the outcome of the project. www.sidus-solutions.com New DPS GE debuted the latest version of its Dynamic Positioning (DP)system, which it claims is more energy efÞ cient, bet- ter integrated and more Òmariner friendly.Ó GE Power Con- version aims to simplify DP with a new human-machine interface (HMI). The control panel is very clean and unclut- tered with very few control devices. Its 26-in. touchscreen is tiltable to suit each operatorÕs preference for standing or sitting in front of the screen, or moving around it. It accom- modates operators of different heights and is equally visible in a whole range of lighting conditions on the bridge, es-pecially reß ections from the sun and artiÞ cial light. Screen displays in an operator selectable range of languages allow the operator to access all system functionality in his/her mother tongue.GE: Two New Subsea Condition Monitors GE has two new condition monitoring and sensing solu- tions: the Acoustic Leak Detection System and the Subsea Multi-Domain Condition Monitoring System. The Acoustic Leak Detection System uses passive, acous- tic hydrophone technology to detect and locate subsea oil and gas leaks by discriminating the noise of a leak from other sources of sound. Developed from naval military tech- nology, the sensing system enables extremely sensitive and accurate measurement of subsea acoustics and can be used to detect ÒsilentÓ leaks that occur when there is low ß ow rate or low differential pressure. GEÕs ALD is the leading ISO-qualiÞ ed technology for permanent (25 years) deploy- ment available today that can detect both crude oil and gas with sufÞ cient sensitivity while providing wide area cover- age of up to 500 m.The Subsea Multi-Domain Condition Monitoring Sys-tem combines electric emission monitoring and acoustic hydrophones specially designed for monitoring the oper- ating condition of subsea machinery and processesÑfrom pumps and valves to supporting infrastructure. Typically combined with ALD to detect subsea leakage, the system performs multi-domain analysis supported by proven pat- tern recognition and machine learning algorithms to iden-tify and display subsea structure, machine and pipeline ac-tivities and anomalies. www.seadiscovery.com MTR #5 (34-48).indd 35MTR #5 (34-48).indd 356/4/2013 9:38:56 AM6/4/2013 9:38:56 AM
