People & Company News Harkand Makes Management AppointmentsHarkand strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of three senior Þ gures as the company embarks on the next stage in its growth strategy. Kevin Gorman joined as vice president of HR. One of two new newly created Group positions, his appointment will allow Harkand to strengthen its capacity as it looks to grow its current 750-strong global workforce. He is joined by new Group general counsel Colin Forbes. John Ewen has been appointed general manager for Harkand ISS, which serves Europe, HarkandÕs largest region. All three posts will be based in Aberdeen. Gorman brings with him a wealth of experience across the construction, engineering and oil and gas industries both with-in the UK and internationally. Most recently HR director at Subsea 7 where he oversaw the merger with Acergy, he will be responsible for developing HarkandÕs HR strategy includ- ing resourcing, training and development, compensation and beneÞ ts, and employee and industrial relations. Roper to Head Saab Seaeye U.S. Saab Seaeye expanded its international presence by opening an ofÞ ce in Houston, Texas. The ofÞ ce is headed by Chris Roper, previously Saab SeaeyeÕs North American distributor, who re- cently relocated to Houston to set up the new operation. ÒThe move places us in an ideal posi- tion to support sales and service in the region,Ó said Saab Seaeye director, Matt Bates. ÒAmerica and the Gulf of Mexico in partic- ular, is an important market and Houston is the ideal base.Ó He explains that the ofÞ ce will grow to offer technical support, spares and service support. Spare parts for SeaeyeÕs range of commercial ROV and Hybrid AUV systems are currently being located in Houston to strengthen the service to customers in the region. MetOcean Welcomes MacPherson, Squires MetOcean recently welcomed Emily MacPherson and Laura Squires to the Sales and Marketing team. Emily brings more than 10 years of brand marketing and sales experience to Met- Ocean, and will be responsible for the expanding Buoy and ProÞ ler product portfolio and brand marketing and advertising for the company. She holds a Bachelor of Business Commu- nications and a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a Major in Marketing and Economics. Emily has over nine years of experience in the environmental and oceanographic Þ eld which makes her a key edition to Buoy and ProÞ ler group. Laura Squires joins the MetOceanÕs Sales and Marketing depart- ment, and is responsible for the Tracking and Locating product line and the coordination of internal sales logistics. Laura holds a BachelorÕs Degree in Commerce, Major in Computing and In- formation Systems, and a CertiÞ cate in Human Resources Man- agement from Saint MaryÕs University. Hailing from Toronto, Ontario Laura is pleased to now call Halifax, Nova Scotia home. MetOcean designs and manufactures drifting buoys, environ- mental platforms, and the NOVATECH location and recovery locator beacons. MetOceanÕs drifting buoy family consists of the following environmental monitoring, oil spill response, and search and rescue drifters: NOVA proÞ ling ß oat, Iridium SVP (iSVP), iSPHERE, Argosphere, SLDMB, and iSLDMB. Tidewater to Acquire Troms Offshore Supply AS Tidewater Inc. entered into an agreement with HitecVision to purchase Troms Offshore Supply AS for approximately $395 million.
