Calero: Being in recruitment it does put us in a strategic po- sition where we can represent quali? ed women and help them get over some of the early speed bumps they face in their ca- reer search. When you have the chance to actually speak about someone’s experience they become more then their physical traits, they become more then a paper resume to a prospective employer. There are certain stigmas that exist for women – for example, for certain roles the question would be, “can she handle a rough mariner culture?” By being able to turn that stigma into an answerable question, we can get these women on an even playing ? eld that is experience driven. Faststream, as an organization, has just under 50 percent of our employees (globally) are women and 33 percent of our management team are women. It is important to lead by example, but at the same time, Faststream recognizes an individual by their achieve- ments, not by gender.
