Sea Containers Inc.

Appoints Tatham VP

James B. Sherwood, president of

Sea Containers Inc., has announced the appointment of Nigel J. Tatham as vice president-leasing. This is a newly created position at Sea Con- tainers, which is one of the leading international companies supplying marine cargo equipment including containers, containerships and con- tainer cranes.

Mr. Tatham is presently a main board director of Furness, Withy & Co. Ltd. which he joined in 1955, where he was responsible for the company's development and plan- ning department and for new pro- jects. At one point, he was general manager of Furness, Withy ship operations organization, and before that, as a director of the company's

Prince Line, was responsible for group liner services to the Mediter- ranean.

Mr. Sherwood said: "This new appointment, which will strengthen our management, reflects the very rapid expansion of Sea Containers' shipping interests in recent years. "We now own 17 containerships and have another seven due for de- livery during the current year, in- cluding some which are of com- pletely new design. This growth in our shipping activities has been achieved in only three and a half years, and considerable further ex- our compact 400 marine water heater never runs hot and cold. pansion in the future is planned."

Most of Sea Containers' fleet in- volves their Tarros concept of con- tainership, a vessel which carries its own craneage aboard and so can operate independently of port-han- dling facilities. The company also owns a fleet of over 36,000 contain- ers.
