Furuno Introduces New Compact
VHF Radiotelephone And
LP-1000 Loran/Plotter
Furuno U.S.A., Inc. of South San
Francisco, Calif., recently intro- duced a new compact VHF radio- telephone as well as a new LP-1000
Loran/plotter.
Furuno's new compact VHF ra- diotelephone, FM-2510, is an ad- vanced all-channel, fully synthe- sized VHF/FM radiotelephone fea- turing 25W output and packaged in a compact, splashproof diecast alu- minum cabin. It covers all U.S. and international channels, 10 U.S./Ca- nadian weather channels, and has provision for full scan, 10-channel memory scan, and dual watch for 16 and any other channel.
The large LCD displays operating mode, selected channel and memory in use; a four-step dimmer controls
LCD and touchpad backlighting.
A built-in backup battery pro- tects all data even when the radio is turned off and optional telephone handset and external speaker are available.
The FM-2510 is the perfect full-

Presentation is North-Up Mercator with scaling from 1/2,000 to 1/5,000,000. The plot area can be easily expanded or contracted and memory capacity in- cludes a 3,600-point courseline and 100 points for waypoints and events.
A ROM card stores four pages of 500-point electronic plots, equiva- lent to a whole day's trip for many commercial or sport fishermen.
Ten unique routes of 10 way- points each can be memorized and a courseline can be entered into mem- ory simply by sampling any 10 way- points (defined by L/L, TDs, range/ bearing, events, or cursor mark).
Plot intervals can be set at 5 sec- onds, or as any integer-5 multiple of time or distance. The LP-1000 eas- ily accepts input from external nav receivers, speed logs and heading sensors, and it has outputs for auto- pilots and printers.

Moss Point Acquisition By Trinity
Will Consolidate Shipbuilding
Functions, Improve Efficiency
Trinity Industries, Inc., of New
Orleans, La., recently announced the acquisition of Moss Point Ma- rine, Inc., a Mississippi Gulf Coast shipbuilder. The acquisition gives
Trinity the largest production ca- pacity of its type of commercial ves- sels in the United States.
That judgement is the assessment of John Dane III, former owner and president of Moss Point Ma- rine, Inc., and now president of the
Trinity Marine Group which en- compasses Trinity's shipbuilding and ship repair operations. Mr.
Dane began his career in shipbuild-

AEROBIC
DIGESTERS
Koch-Ellis, in cooperation with the
EPA, has one of the most effective methods of on-site treatment of wash water used to clean barge and ship cargo tanks, the aerobic digestive system.
Koch-Ellis uses five different types of genetically produced bacteria to consume over thirty different chemicals that can be left in the wash water after the standard clarifier process. Later, the well fed bacteria are allowed to settle to the bottom of the tank and the now clean water on top is siphoned off, ready to reenter the environment...safe and clean.
If you're interested in getting your barge or ship serviced by an innovative company that does a great job for you and the environment, then look to the leader in the Gulf Coast region... Koch-Ellis Barge and Ship Service.
