ENERSYN, a line of superior, syn- thetic, functional fluids, is designed specifically for those applications on board where fluids having enhanced properties can deliver important benefits. The ENERSYN family of synthetic products spans applica- tions in gas, air and refrigeration compressors, as well as centrifuge gearboxes.

ENERSYN GCS 180 is a lubri- cant based on specially selected poly- ethylene glycols. ENERSYN GCS 180 has been approved for both ro- tary and reciprocating machinery types and for most of the gas cargoes commonly transported on ship.

ENERSYN RX100 is a diester-based lubricant. It is the recommended product for reciprocating air com- pressors in ships and it greatly im- proves valve and cooler cleanliness, thus reducing engine-room mainte- nance workload and parts replace- ment costs.

ENERSYN RC-S 32 is a synthetic lubricant, based on polyalphaolefins, that offers special performance fea- tures in rotary air compressors on board ships. ENERSYN HTX 220 is based on a carefully balanced blend of synthetics and has been devel- oped to satisfy the special lubrica- tion requirements of centrifuge gear- box systems.

Cartel Products

Cartel Products has just intro- duced a new fuel additive that will help your vessel comply with the new government emissions stan- dards. Cartel's Combustion Cata- lyst will reduce Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Oxide (No^) emis- sions up to 55 percent.

Along with the reduction in omis- sions, this new generation fuel addi- tive will reportedly increase fuel economy up to 15 percent while re- portedly increasing the power out- put of the engine - torque.

The Cartel Combustion Catalyst will also reduce the engine's operat- ing temperature, which means lower engine wear and down-time.

Castrol has introduced Castrol

Spheerol SX2, a high performance calcium sulphonate complex base grease. Specifically developed for use in the highly agressive condi- tions found in marine and offshore environments, Castrol Spheerol SX2 is suitable for a wide range of appli- cations including wire ropes, open gears, small to medium sized roller bearings, fairleads, chain drives, etc.

Extensive in-service and labora- tory trials have proven the advanced properties of Castrol Spheerol SX2.

These characteristics give optimum lubrication and corrosion protection over a wide operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celcius, ensuring maximum intervals be- tween services. The NLGI rating of this grease is 2 and drop point in excess of 300 degrees C.

Marine

Drew Ameroid Marine offers a highly effective solution for improv- ing the overall efficiency of marine exhaust boiler systems on motorships, as well as minimizing the risk of soot-related damage due to both stack fires and acid corro- sion. A blend of highly active com- bustion catalysts, Drew's LT Soot

Release™ is a unique powder de- signed both to reduce combustion deposits and maintain clean heat- transfer surfaces in diesel exhaust gas economizers.

Drew's LT Soot Release combus- tion catalyst reduces the ignition temperature of the products of in- complete combustion by removing the combustion binders of ash and other bonded deposits. Especially well-suited for the energy-efficient recovery systems in today's motorships, this low-temperature soot remover is activated by exhaust gases with temperatures as low as 200 degrees C to generate a con- trolled oxidation of soot deposits.

When this process is complete, usu- ally in 15 to 30 minutes, normal soot- blowing operations remove the loos- ened material.

Daily treatment with LT Soot

Release can eliminate or minimize the need for periodic waterwashing - and also prevents the progressive deterioration in heat transfer effi- ciency that typically occurs between scheduled cleanings as soot contin- ues to accumulate. Energy loss from soot deposits is thus reduced dra- matically, along with corrosion ef- fects and stack fire potential; and system efficiency is maintained at a consistent level.
