General Manager, Marine Operations (Portland, Oregon)

Duties: Management of 55-acre four berth marine terminal in Portland, stevedoring operations at Port of Portland and

Port of Vancouver, Washington, and bulk and break bulk cargo facilities: design and implement administrative and operational policies and procedures; review vessel opera- tions with superintendents, agents & Port Captains; ana- lyze budgets, financial results and expenditures of vessel operations to increase profits; analyze & improve staffing and equipment requirements; analyze and resolve vessel stowage issues including financial issues; prepare container & break bulk cargo pre-stowage and stowage plans; con- duct pre-operations meetings with agents/Port Captains; analyze issues regarding position of cargo for efficient ste- vedoring; determine number of longshoremen required for vessel and terminal operations; determine cargo handling equipment required for efficient operation; handle labor re- lations matters with union steward, labor relations commit- tee and arbitrations.

Education/Experience-. Ten (10) years of experience in the offered position or the related occupation of superinten- dent of cargo vessel. Experience must include five (5) years in a) management of operations and finances of vessels with operating budgets in excess of $1 million per year; b) conducting financial analyses of, and preparing handling and stowage plans for, cargo operations in excess of $1 million. Will supervise a staff 8 to 10 people. Applicant must have legal authority to permanently work in the United

States.

Salary. $96,000 per year, plus bonuses and benefits, ex- empt position; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Portland, Oregon area. Resume and/or cover letter must reflect every listed all requirements or it will be rejected.
