Detexis Agree On Black Box Partnership

Kongsberg Norcontrol and Thomson-CSF Detexis signed a partnership agreement involving the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of Mar- itime Black Box (MBB), a shipborne voyage data recorder (VDR). The MBB collects data in the event of an accident, thereby enabling the government authori- ties and maritime organizations to evaluate and investi- gate the causes in both a systematic and reliable process. The MBB was originally issued from a

European Union's program, and is in compliance with

IMO regulations to enhance passenger safety and pro- tection environment.

In 1939, the Munters Cargocaire dehumidifier division was founded by Commander Oliver

Colvin, USN. Its mission: Eliminate the costly deterioration of cargo caused by moisture condensing in holds during transit.

After WWII, Cargocaire dehumidifiers were used to mothball surplus ships and equipment.

When needed for the Korean War, all of these ships were ready for duty. During the 1960s,

Cargocaire again mothballed many unneeded ships. Among them was the Battleship Iowa, which was recommissioned in record time and below budget thanks to dry air protection.
