The catamaran is also equipped with a custom designed cargo handling system, allowing the vessel to be completely independent of shore facilities and thus, enhancing its suit- ability as an island commuter service.

SIMOS IMAC 55 equipment — as well as the communications systems. Two

Siemens-Schottel SSP 10 Propulsors at 11 MW will propel each vessel. The new SSP pod-type propulsion system is developed for a very advanced type of vessel.

Fincantieri Wins Ferry Order

Tirrenia di Navigazione formalized an agreement with Fincantieri for the con- struction of two 35,000-gt new genera- tion cruise ferries. Measuring 702 ft. (214 m) with a breadth of 85 ft.
