As of No- vember 2013, Marc Bourdon, General Manager of CMA CGM do Brazil, will take on the position of General Manager of CMA CGM America LLC and will closely be working with: Todd Rives, Chief Commercial OfÞ cer; Ed McCar- thy, Chief Operating Of Þ cer and Jim Arnold, Chief Financial OfÞ cer, already in place in Norfolk. Bourdon, who has been working in the transportation in-dustry for 20 years and who has joined the CMA CGM Group 14 years ago, has an extensive experience in agency man-agement. Perkins Named VP at Ingalls Huntington Ingalls Industries said that Don Perkins was named VP of contracts and pricing for the company?s Ingalls Shipbuilding division. Operationally, Perkins? organization is responsible for contract administration, proposal formu-lation, estimating, pricing, negotiations, contract awards and change orders, as well as management of contractual risks and mitigation strategies. Horizon Lines Names Hamlin COO Horizon Lines, Inc. said that William A. Hamlin has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Of-Þ cer, and will continue to report to Sam Woodward, President and CEO. Hamlin joined Horizon Lines in March 2011 as Senior Vice President of Operations. Hamlin is a graduate of the University of Maine, and he began his career taking a position in Saudi Arabia. McClure Elected a Fellow of SNAME Alan C. McClure Associates (ACMA), a naval architecture and engineering Þ rm, announced that ACMA President Scott McClure was presented with his CertiÞ cate as a Fellow by the council of SNAME (Society of Naval Archi- tects and Marine Engineers) by SNAME President Peter Noble. Noble said that McClure has been a respected member of this community for many years, fol-lowing in the footsteps of his father, the late Alan C. McClure, who was elected a Fellow of SNAME in 1987. ?This is a high honor, and well deserved,? said No- ble. ?Less than 2% of the membership of SNAME attains this grade.?Crowley Shipmaster Honored Capt. Fred Walley of the Ready Reserve Force (RRF) ship, was presented with the Spirit Award at the Nationals Park during a televised Major League Base-ball game between the Washington Na- tionals and the Philadelphia Phillies on National Maritime Day, May 25. Walley was selected to receive the award on be-half of the company and his crew, which provided support to the relief organiza- tions working in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. IMUA Honors Three Grace D. Thomas, Senior Vice President at Great American Insurance Company and a former Chairperson of the In-land Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA), was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the association?s Annual Meeting held mid-May. Saunders, Inland Marine Business Unit Audit Lead, Travelers ? 2012 Outstand- ing Committee Person.USMMA Graduation: Class of 2013 The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) graduated 201 new mari-time leaders as part of its Class of 2013 commencement ceremony. The keynote speaker, General William M. Fraser III, Commander, U.S. Transportation Com- mand (USTRANSCOM), gave the com-mencement address before a crowd of more than 2,000 including special guest U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray La- Hood, graduates, family members and representatives from the federal govern-ment, armed forces and maritime indus-try. Based on Academy estimates, 49 of the Class of 2013 graduates will serve as of-Þ cers in active military duty and 141 will serve as ofÞ cers in the reserves while sailing on U.S. ß ag vessels; 82 on deep sea vessels, 37 on-off supply vessels and 19 on inland waterway and towing ves-sels; two on international ß ag vessels with the remaining graduates now mak-ing their Þ nal decisions. Harvey Gulf Invests in LNG Bunkering FacilitiesWhile the dearth of fueling stations has been lamented as the number one chal-lenge to expanded use of LNG as fuel in the maritime sectory, Harvey Gulf International Marine CEO Shane Guidry decided to meet the challenge head-on, announcing that Harvey Gulf secured plans to construct and operate the Þ rst LNG marine fueling facility in the Unit-ed States, to be located at its vessel facil-ity in Port Fourchon, La. To support the development of the LNG fueling facility, Harvey Gulf has secured CH-IV Interna- tional of Houston, Texas as the EPC (En- gineering, Procurement and Construc-tion) contractor. The facility will consist of two sites each having 270,000 gallons of LNG storage capacity. The tanks will be stainless steel Type C pressure vessels with vacuum insulation and carbon steel exteriors. Each facility will be able to transfer 500 gallons of LNG per minute. Aside from the facilities primary role of supporting the Oil and Gas Industry, the facility will be capable of supporting over-the-road vehicles that operate on LNG. The estimate to complete the Þ rst site is February 2014, with the second site following shortly thereafter. Aker Solutions, Statoil Cancel Cat B Contract Aker Solutions ASA and Statoil ASA cancelled a contract for delivery of a semi-submersible rig capable of year-round well-intervention services on the Norwegian continental shelf. The com- panies in April 2012 agreed Aker Solu- tions would build the Category B (Cat B) rig and use it to provide Statoil with a range of well-intervention and drilling services for an initial eight years, start-ing in 2015. The technology develop- ment needed to build the rig has since proven to be considerably more demand-ing than initially anticipated and the par- ties agreed to terminate the contract.said Per Harald Kongelf, regional presi-dent for Norway at Aker Solutions. Each party will be accountable for its own project-related costs.
