EdgeTech traces its history back to 1965 when it started out as a division of EG&G Marine Instruments. In 1995, Ed- geTech became a private company and selected its name in part to honor the late Dr. Edgerton, marine instrumentation pioneer and a founder of EG&G. In the early 2000?s ORE Off- shore became part of the company, and continued to operate under the ORE Offshore brand name until March of this year. The company designs, manufactures and sells a variety of standard and engineered-to-order underwater sonar systems including side scan sonar, sub-bottom pro lers, bathymetric, combined and modular systems. The systems are available in a range of con gurations for towed, deep towed, AUV, ROV, ROTV and custom platforms. With the addition of what was once ORE Offshore, the company also provides highly ad- vanced and reliable USBL acoustic tracking and positioning systems, transponder beacons, deep sea acoustic releases, shallow water and long life acoustic releases, motion refer- ence units (MRU), underwater acoustic command and control systems, and custom-engineered acoustic products. Recently EdgeTech introduced the PORT MFE acoustic re- lease and the SPORT acoustic release and Pop-up, a shallow water version. Some of the most recent additions in their so- nar product line include the 4600 combined side scan sonar and bathymetry system with the ability to provide a full swath coverage for shallow water operations. The 2000-DSS com- bined side scan and sub-bottom Tow/ROV kit, and the 2205 sonars for AUV/ROVs are also recent additions. The 2000- DSS Tow/ROV allows the customer the leeway to use it as a traditional tow sh or con gure it to t on an ROV for opera- tion in water depths up to 3km. EdgeTech?s new DISCOVER II sonar software is a new GUI software package that is allows the addition of new features making the operator?s job more effective. Being able to review sonar records backwards and forwards and enabling auto-measurement of underwater tar- gets will make this software package a hit. ? R. Having a unique focus on uorescence instrumentation for over 40 years and customers throughout the world, Turner De- signs is the leader in lter uorometer design, manufacturing, and support. Providing solutions to researchers, monitoring agencies, system integrators and spill response teams, Turner Designs is known for providing rugged, reliable and stable instruments. We provide submersible, eld, handheld, labo- ratory, and online uorometers and turbidimeters varying in functionality, size and price to t any type of user need. Turner Designs is continuously expanding our repertoire of optical instruments to meet new application requirements. Standard optical con gurations include in vivo and extracted Chlorophyll, blue-green algae pigments such as phycocyanin and phycoerythrin, active uorescence, Dissolved Organic Matter (Algal as well as Terrestrial), ammonium, optical brighteners, dye tracers, and crude and re ned oils as well as infrared wavelengths used to detect turbidity. Data acqui- sition is available real-time and through several datalogging possibilities. Submersible instruments can be con gured for depth pro ling, long-term monitoring and horizontal mapping with GPS-integration at depths up to 6000 meters. Solid Sec- ondary Standards which enable quick instrument veri cation and calibration checks are available for most applications and are known to hold their value over several years of usage. 52 MTRJuly/August 2012 MTR #6 (50-65).indd 52MTR #6 (50-65).indd 528/2/2012 10:15:52 AM8/2/2012 10:15:52 AM
