MTR100unique organization. Within the larger corporation is a broad range of applicable technologies and capability which are at the disposal of the Teledyne Marine companies to augment our capa-bilities. This includes a corpo- rate R&D laboratory, Teledyne ScientiÞ c Company, ( www.tele- dyne-si.com); the worldÕs fore- most pure-play MEMs found-ries, Teledyne Dalsa ( www. teledynedalsa.com); and a high-ly capable systems engineering business, Teledyne Brown Engi- neering (www.tbe.com ). Altshuler I think the group strength is the depth of engineer-ing. WeÕve got a very broad engi- neering group. We have a vora- cious appetite for engineers. And the goal is to take that core competency and have each of the businesses accelerate their product development and if possible to have collaboration across the businesses. Gardner and Mulholland Teledyne Marine Interconnect Solutions is a unique competitor in the marine equipment in-dustry. This new organization not only designs, develops and manufactures a range of high performance, high reliability electrical interconnect systems, it is also backed by the unpar- alleled scientiÞ c and R&D capabilities of Teledyne ScientiÞ c. The collective group strength of the combined TMIS organi- zation is the ability to deliver to customers the broadest avail- able portfolio of cutting-edge electrical, Þ ber optic, hybrid and Ethernet interconnect products that are optimized for use in mission-critical applications which are required to function ß awlessly Ð under extreme conditions and in any expected op- erational environment. The ?MTR100? is an annual list of leading com- panies in the subsea sector: Why are the com- panies under your ?group? worthy of inclusion in this annual presentation? Altshuler I think something you would Þ nd across the company is a focus on a broad set of technologies that ad- dress the submerging marine market. I think the marine mar- ket really is emerging, if you look at offshore oil and gas, if you look at where science is going particularly in terms of the study of climate change, and if you look at the defense, with the U.S.Õ shift in focus to the Asia PaciÞ c. Teledyne has identiÞ ed the areas that will be exciting growth markets and is investing to grow those markets. Kikendall I believe what is unique about the Teledyne Marine companies is the extended period over which these businesses have been supporting the subsea sector with innovative products that are very broadly applied to ap- plications within the market. Each of our marine businesses are Ògo-toÓ companies with an earned reputation for delivering pre- cise and dependable measurements and solu-tions that can be relied upon to deliver results in the very challenging subsea environment. In many cases these Teledyne products have been a key part of signiÞ cant scientiÞ c dis- coveries that have inß uenced the understand- ing of our environment. As consolidation continues in the subsea sec-tor, and Teledyne sits as a driving force, what do you see as the chief bene Þ ts to housing mul- tiple companies, multiple capabilities, under the Teledyne banner? Kikendall We touched on this earlier when we dis- cussed our collective group strength and our independent mar- ket focus for all product offerings. I will try to address this in a somewhat different manner. TeledyneÕs products are gener- ally used to acquire information that is used to improve our understanding of the marine environment. This information may be used to make and/or inß uence signiÞ cant decisions. The subsea market is very attractive to Teledyne, as we believe there is a need to continue the expansion of mankindÕs un- derstanding of this unique and diverse environment. Through the various sensors and systems that we offer, we believe that we can make this information gathering process more precise and efÞ cient, fostering informed decisions on important top- ics affecting the health and stability of our environment, our economies and our planetsÕ diverse inhabitants. Gardner and Mulholland Teledyne Marine Interconnect So- lutions is a market-focused and process-centered organization that develops and delivers innovative solutions to its custom- ers. TMIS was formed for the very purpose of harnessing the combined engineering resources, technical and design capa-bilities, manufacturing capacities and business competencies of three afÞ liated Teledyne businesses, and utilizing these GardnerTELEDYNE RD I NSTRUMENTS ?
