Statoil Enters German Offshore Wind Market tatoil entered the German offshore wind market via a 50 percent acquisition of the Arkona offshore wind farm.

SStatoil and E.ON also announce the ? nal investment de- cision on the 385MW project. The estimated total investment for the project will be in excess of $1.2 billion.

The Arkona wind farm will provide renewable energy for up to 400,000 households in Germany, making it one of the larg- est ongoing offshore wind developments in Europe.

The addition of Arkona increases the total energy production capacity of the offshore wind projects in Statoil’s portfolio by around 50 percent, and the company’s own production capac- ity by 65 percent. The projects now have a combined capacity of more than 1,100 MW, supporting more than 1 million Eu- ropean homes with renewable energy.
