When Hippo isn't towing rigs, she feeds them men, fuel, mud and steel.

It's a giant's job. Towing and supplying Penrod Drilling

Company's modern offshore rigs. Anywhere in the world.

That's why her owners, Petrol Marine, made Hippo the superboat that she is.

They wanted her big. 192 ft long. So she could haul more than 800 tons of rig supplies, including dry mud, cement, fuel and drilling water in her built-in bulk tanks.

They wanted her fast. With a two-speed forward gear, first of its kind. In high gear, even with full cargo, Hippo can split the water at more than 15 knots. In low gear, she'll move her rig at close to five knots.

And she had to be powerful. As Captain Ray Davis tells it, "Get a ten-million dollar rig in a storm on open water and you learn what it means to have big engines you can count on." Captain Davis counts on two General

Motors 645E5 16-cylinder Diesels, totaling 5750 shp.

Wherever boats work hard, you'll find rugged, reliable

GM power. Ask your Electro-Motive representative to show you why.
