We don't cut corners. a company of uncommon enterprise

We form them. One of the design features on Dravo-built barges is the heavy-duty square stern with specially formed corners. We arrange the stern hull plates in a "picture-frame" pattern with the heaviest plates rolled around the outside edges. The corners are elliptical-shaped to reduce damage to docks, other vessels, and the barge itself during locking. This design feature gives added structural strength to keep the barge in daily service.

For over 50 years, Dravo has pioneered inno- vations in hull construction and design. To find out about some of our other design features, write to Dravo Corporation, Marine Sales De- partment, Neville Island, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15225.
